What we collect

Nothing, if you just read

There is no sign-up, no login and no profile. We do not ask for your name, your email, your location or your machine. Nothing is stored in your browser: no cookies, no local storage. You can confirm that in your browser's developer tools, and our build fails if any script on the site tries.

Page views, counted without identifying you

We use Plausible, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count how many people read which pages. It sets no cookies, does not track you across sites or across visits, and stores no personal data: your IP address is used only to derive a country and is never written down. It is hosted in the EU. There is nothing in it that could identify you, so there is nothing in it we could give you a copy of.

Server logs, for a short time

Our host, Cloudflare, processes every request in order to serve the page, and briefly records technical information about it — including your IP address — to deliver content, block attacks and enforce the rate limit described in our terms. This is ordinary infrastructure logging, kept for a short period and used for security and delivery, not for advertising or profiling.

An email, if you send us one

If you email us a correction, a takedown request or a question, we hold that email and your address for as long as it takes to deal with it and to keep a record of what we changed and why. We do not add you to any list and we have nothing to send you.

Why, in law

Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, we rely on legitimate interests — running and securing a website, and knowing whether anyone reads it — for analytics and server logs. Because the analytics are cookieless and hold no personal data, no consent banner is required, and we are not going to put one in front of you for the pleasure of it. For an email you send us, the basis is that same legitimate interest in answering correspondence and keeping an accurate record of corrections.

Who else sees it

Nobody buys anything from us and we sell nothing. We do not share, sell or trade data with advertisers, brokers or manufacturers. Two processors act for us: Cloudflare (hosting, DNS and email forwarding) andPlausible (analytics). We may disclose information where the law requires it.

When advertising is introduced this page will be updated before the first advert appears, and will say exactly which network, what it sets and how to refuse it. There are no adverts on the site today.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of anything we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to our holding it. Email corrections@whichtractor.com and we will answer within one month.

In practice, unless you have emailed us, we hold nothing about you to give you — which is the point of building it this way.

If you think we have handled your data badly you can complain to theInformation Commissioner's Office in the UK, or to your own national data protection authority in the EU. We would rather you told us first.

Children

This is a reference site for farm machinery. It is not aimed at children and collects nothing from anyone, whatever their age.
